Don of a New Era

The Don CeSar Roars Into The 20's With Engaging New Dining, Retail and Lifestyle Spaces as Part of its Multi-Phased Renovations

ST. PETE BEACH, FL.- It is "The Don" of a new era as the revival of Florida's iconic Pink Palace® progresses in its 92nd year with the highly anticipated unveil of the Don Lobby Bar, The Don Boutiques and engaging new dining experiences. This milestone completes Phase II of a three-phased, full-property renovation at the The Don CeSar, and preludes the property's 277-room redesign which begins in July 2020.

"We extend a gracious welcome to local and international guests alike to share in the revelry of the new Don CeSar," said Todd Gehrke. "There is an undeniable pride and devotion that surrounds such a glorified and historic fixture in the community. That same passion is felt by all who experience the world-class service at our legendary property."

Refreshed and Ready to Roar
Honoring its rich history, beloved St. Pete Beach community and its famous patrons, The Don CeSar's renovation preserves the integrity of its colorful past while propelling the interior design and overall guest experience into the future. Phase I, led by Florida-based Edge of Architecture interior design studio, began mid-2018 and included a full refresh of the lobby and meeting spaces at the Beach House Suites by The Don CeSar.  In addition, 2018 saw the refresh at the main Don CeSar resort campus to the fifth floor and all meeting spaces, guest corridors, new beach and pool furniture, and meticulous restoration and weatherproofing to The Don exteriors, including the courtyard.

In fall 2019, the National Historic Landmark partnered with Boston-based Parker-Torres Design to further demonstrate its commitment to excellence with the redesign of the Don Lobby Bar, Uncle Andy's, Maritana and The Don Boutiques retail experience. Stately colorways taken from the hotel's history, such as bold emerald green hues in the lobby bar and black and white tile patterns, convey the mood of each space. The Don CeSar's lobby is energetic and vibrant, with playful touches such as a palm leaf print wallcovering and a quintessential, custom-designed glass bar cart that serves period-inspired drinks. The bar was repositioned to the back of the lobby in order to open the space, and features mesmerizing wood-like tiles that draw visitors in.

Parker-Torres Design was also responsible for upgrades to the 71-room, all-suite Beach House Suites by The Don CeSar, located half a mile down the beach from the main resort complex. These updates encompassed a redesign of SandDollar Bar and Pavilion, the pool, and outdoor gathering and public spaces including the a new event lawn and fireside lounge.

"The hotel was visited by the author of The Great Gatsby himself, F. Scott Fitzgerald," says Miriam Torres, Co-Founder of Parker-Torres Design. "As an ode to his iconic presence, we infused the modernized interiors with details that encapsulate the best of the roaring 20's."

A New Don
The grand public spaces will be complemented by upgrades to chic and airy Floridian guestrooms, the final stage of The Don CeSar's renovations also helmed by Parker-Torres Design. Upon completion, guest rooms will feature beach-inspired textures such as wicker, and a whimsical flamingo graphic that will hover above the whitewashed headboards. A soft blush tone will elevate the rooms, and tie into the hotel facade's signature pink. In addition to a complete design transformation, guest rooms will feature upgraded layouts to allow for two queen beds instead of doubles, while bathroom space in many of the rooms will be maximized by transitioning from tubs to showers. Phase III will also round out refreshments to The Don CeSar's esteemed food and beverage establishments, including a resigned Sea Porch Restaurant and a brand new Beachcomber Bar & Grill with an addition of a rooftop deck perfect for sunset watching.

Rich In History
Dramatically perched atop wind-swept dunes with expansive views in every direction, The Don CeSar is the epitome of old-world glamour and sophistication. Since 1928, the legendary property has graciously welcomed the world's elite, stars of the silver screen, renowned authors, U.S presidents and high-profile dignitaries, all seeking a private, sophisticated playground in the sun.
